Good News

I got a call from the housing peoples today telling me that we will be in a house by/on Monday. I'm hoping we can start moving in on Saturday....but Monday is good too. Thank you Katie Cline for driving your neighborhood and emailing me rentals in your area. Thank you to everyone who stops us at church or gives us a call to see how we're doing and asks if we need anything. You guys have been awesome. I love my ward to guys are great.

We still have not started on the remodel yet, but we're making progress finding people to do the work.

Well....good news all. I made my final call tonight. I do not have to serve on a Jury for at least another year. This also means that Heather will get to go to a birthday party of Friday. She will be so happy.

House Update

We are currently living in a Hotel waiting to have access to a rental home for the next 3 months. If all goes well we may be in one by the end of this week. As soon as early next week.

Jon was finally able to find a guy to lay the tile and install cabinets in the kitchen. Now all we need to do is get a permit from the city to be able to do our kitchen remodel, get a carpet cleaning bid, clean and repaint all the walls in our house (which we are probably going to do ourselves), and schedule an electrician.

Other than that things are fine. We're just taking it day to day. Once things get started on the house we'll be in good shape.

Jury Duty

Is it just me? Does anyone else get a Jury Summons every year? I never saw a Jury Summons until I moved to Roseville and I have gotten them ever year for the last 6 years.
The process:
You go pick up the mail and notice the California state seal peaking at you through the envelope. Superior Court of California, County of________. Office of the Jury Commissioner. Your heart starts pounding, your face turns red, and you wonder aloud why on earth do you have to go through this every year.?
You open the envelope to read that you must call a certain number on the Friday before you are scheduled to "possibly" report for Jury Duty. Until that Friday appears you have nervous knots in your stomach ever time you remind yourself of what that phone call,after 4:30 pm on the Friday before, will mean.
The aboved mentioned Friday finally comes around and you dial the number wondering whether or not you will be picked this year. Once you have entered your Juror number and other information you are then told that you may pissibly be needed for a date in the very near future and to call again on the night before that date to see if you really are needed. (making any sense?) This process continues until you either have to make an appearance at a designated court house or they decide that you aren't needed at this time and tell you that your time has been served. (until you get another summons exactly 12 months later)
As of yet I have not actually had to report for Jury Duty which actually makes this whole experience more nerve racking for me. I wonder if I do finally get into a court room and chosen for a Jury if they might let me have a break and not send me another summons for....oh I don't know....at least 2 years. *smile*
Until that time....here I sit unable to plan out may days any further in advance than the next day.

Kitchen Fire

Kitchen fire? You say......



Yup......Tuesday night (1/27/2009. about 8:30 pm) our kitchen caught fire when someone walked away from the stove while they were waiting for water to boil. Now WHO that person is is for you to determine. I'm not telling. :) Something next to the stove caught fire resulting in a call to the fire department (where Jon's dad worked once upon a time) who arrived promptly to make sure the fire was all out.


Everyone is safe. No one was hurt. We are, however, out of a home for the next couple of months. while different cleaning crews clean every item in our house (and I do mean EVERY item) in an attempt to get the smell of the smoke out of everything. The upside to all of this is that I will get a new kitchen... complete with cabinets, tile floor and the counter top of my choosing.


So for the next 2-3 months we will be living in a rental. If you need to mail anything to us just send it to our regular address. You may reach us on all of our existing numbers including our home phone (we're having home # calls forwarded to my cell). We do have access to internet being that we are staying with family for the time being. So we will be keeping up with that regularly.


Thank you to everyone who has help us with kids, given us a place to sleep, and helped us cover out church callings. We are doing well in spite of all that's happening. We thank you for help offered and received and gladly return the favor when and if you need it in the future.
